“Pick me. Choose me. Love me!” Lessons in Choosing the RIGHT Realtor®
One of our Savvy agents penned a wonderful article that reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Gray’s Anatomy, “Pick me. Choose me. Love me!” Choosing a Realtor® is one of the most important tasks in selling your Charlotte home - yes, we are all licensed and are bound by our Code of Ethics but, we are not all created equally.
Approximately 10% of real estate agents do 90% of the business in our area. Each individual agent has their own marketing techniques, style and listing/advertising budget. By choosing a Realtor® with a distinguished marketing brand, who leads the way in the area with technology and advertising recognition, you will gain greater exposure to the largest number of buyers for your home.
Some agents are notorious for telling Charlotte home sellers exactly what they want to hear. I’ve been in the real estate business long enough to recognize this tactic! In our profession, this is known as “buying a listing” or “marking up a listing.” This tactic is employed by shortsighted agents who are more interested in their own egos than they are in garnering a buyer and achieving a successful sale...for YOU. Oftentimes this strategy works in procuring listings but, it is an extremely poor strategy in actually selling a home, much-less selling it at the highest possible price. Agents who will be showing your home and buyers who are searching for homes will not even take a look at an overpriced home, fully aware that the sellers are unrealistic.
Conversely, some agents claim that if the house doesn’t sell, they’ll sell it for free or buy it from you! Those agents tend to list well below market value and again, this particular strategy significantly effects the sellers’ bottom line.
“Pick me. Choose me. This leads to future recommendations from current and former clients, with whom I have worked diligently to achieve their ultimate results. In any business, when money is the key driving factor, judgement is far too often clouded. In my humble opinion, integrity without compromise is the ONLY strategy!
