Speechless Sundays - Spring Iris in the Fall
Our weather has been unarguably the craziest weather we've had for as long as I can remember. We had a cooler winter than normal, a longer spring than normal and a very tolerable summer with only 1-2 rare 100º days, which we typically see many of during July & August.
Then 80º weather extended right into October. Our poor plants don't know which end is up - especially the bulbs! Seeing Liz and Bill Spear's 'sugary conflower' photo today, I was reminded of this gorgeous flower I saw during a showing yesterday.
Yes, a lovely but, confused Iris in full bloom in OCTOBER! While I don't think this one will last throughout this upcoming week, which is supposed to be considerably cooler, it was a treat to see this bloom in October - makes me hungry for spring already! Who knows? With this crazy weather, we may move right into spring in December!
