Gratitude - Friends in the Rain and Beyond
Each year, during the month-of-gratitude, I salute the many members in the Rain who I have met, have been to my home, traveled from the east coast to the west coast together, simply met here and more. The connections made here over the years have become friendships that will last a lifetime and for them all, I am so very thankful.
This year, there is one very special member who I would love to salute - Will Hamm. Hopefully next week I will be able to complete a post I've been working on for months - the story of my husband's trek to Denver for a specialized medical treatment. We headed out the end of July this year and he came home early last month (October).
Like many of you, I have a business to run so, after my first week in Denver, I returned home to work and then would head back to Denver to visit Ray every 10 - 12 days. Our first week there, never having met Will, he visited us and welcomed us to Denver.
He and Ray immediately hit it off with spirited discussions about football. With the pre-season beginning soon, there was a lot to discuss. Will knows more about the Denver Broncos than the sports announcers! We were amazed at his level of knowledge of his team and that includes historical data.
During that visit, Will shared with me places in the area that I needed to visit when I was in town and every one of them were perfect for my/our needs while we were there. He brought us delicious, home-cooked food that we missed so much while we were away from home.
Will insisted that he be my chauffeur to and from the airport and was faithful each and every trip - never late, always with a smile on his face and filled with more information about Denver than one can imagine! To and from the airport, Will drove me through different communities, sharing the history of them, the pricing in the community and the advantages of living in each one. Let me tell you, Will Hamm KNOWS Denver!
Every trip out, I took early, early morning flights out of Charlotte, arriving in Denver between 7 & 8AM and Will's first stop out of the airport, was to get me coffee - he insisted! Will was a world class Denver ambassador who could not have been more generous, kind, compassionate and welcoming to his gorgeous city.
On one morning as we were headed from the airport to the hospital, out of the blue Will got a call from his dear friend, Amanda S. Davidson. Speaking on his CarApplePlay, we had a great time chatting with one another - of course about life, real estate and our fur babies. It was such a treat to enjoy that 3-way call that was a total surprise to Amanda and me both!
Will's wife is a busy Denver attorney so, we never had the opportunity to meet her in person but, did enjoy hearing stories about their travels - one long trip which they took together while Ray was in Denver. Will has his assitant run the show while he whisks his lovely bride off to get some much needed R&R. They're really a sweet couple and I do hope to get to know them better in the months and years to come.
During the time I couldn't be out in Denver, Will would go visit Ray, taking him food and, the most useful thing in his room - a countdown calendar! Ray looked at that thing every hour of every day! Every time I would arrive to Denver, he would have me mark any missed days - he wanted to keep that calender CURRENT - the countdown to going home was ON!
Thank you hardly seems enough for all that you did, Will. And, to Sharon, thank you for sharing him while we were in Denver!
Another dear friend in the Rain to whom I would love to express my gratitude - Eileen Burns! If you followed the #SeeYouOnTheOtherSideOfDenver story, you'll know that Ray decided to keep his beard since being flat on his back for 6 solid weeks and beyond, he was not able to shave and didn't really want anyone else doing so either.
Well, needless to say, Ray was a big, hairy mess that became quite the topic with every post of him on my Facebook page - some thought he should keep it, others, not so much! I guess we knew where Eileen stood when a wonderful package with shaving toiletris were delivered to his room! What fun that package became in the continued debate while we were in Colorado!
Thank you so much for the delightful care package, Eileen - as you know, he finally did wind up shaving the first day he was back. We can't thank you enough for making his shaving experience a much better one than just straight-blading it with a 3-month old beard! LOL
Thank you to all who made our trip to Denver memorable and to Will for making us feel so welcome in his beautiful city, Will. We can only hope to be the kind of ambassadors to our cities are Will is to Denver.
Now I know why those clients keep coming back to him for more help with real estate. Will, you are truly at the top of your game...and it shows!
