Let's Talk Hours - In North Carolina and in Real Estate
We all know ’tis the weekend to turn back our clocks - Lord knows, we get enough reminders to do that in our emails and on social media! That hour can make quite a difference in our days - for me, as a real estate agent, it really limits my evening showings this time of year. Setting the time back to be dark an hour earlier and buyers getting off of work at 5:00’ish, we may be able to pack a couple of homes in before dark this time of year.
For those with children, it means no longer being at the bus stop in the dark! Other than that, like many others in the states that change times seasonally, I don’t see another benefit!
The Uniform Time Act of 1966 is the federal law that NC currently observes. For the record, the NC House has passed the first, second & third reading of HB350 which specifies that North Carolina will observe Daylight Saving Time year-round if authorized by Congress. The Bill requires the Commissioner of Agriculture to notify the Governor of Congress' authorization to observe year-round Daylight Saving Time within 60 days of its passing. The Senate passed the first reading (on 4/17/19). The Bill is currently pending in the North Carolina Senate Rules and Operations of the Senate Committee.
