Local business is so important to my business as it seems that the 'big guys' are sometimes a bit 'gimicky' and the turnover is higher than the small businesses that I've been associated with in the past. I'd like to salute my favorite home inspection firm here in Charlotte NC--Home Inspection Carolina. Preston and Meg Sandlin started this company from their home 11 years ago and have expanded to 7 inspectors and 3 office personnel. They ARE the preferred inspectors in Charlotte but, that doesn't stop them from giving A+, individualized service.
Their inspectors always arrive on time and are extremely pleasant. They get right to work, inspecting the property for structural and mechanical faults which are not performing the function for which they are intended. The inspectors check for safety issues as well. Some of their inspectors are certified to test for radon in the home and they will also perform your termite inspection and provide a termite letter from the state. They photograph everything and present a clear and concise face-to-face explanation of any faults that the property may have.
When presenting the report, they neither 'scare' the buyer, nor do they offer a quote to repair items on their list--Home Inspection Carolina Charlotte NC only performs inspections--not 
repairs. I feel strongly that a good inspector should have no conflict of interest in offering to make repairs as well performing the inspection. One of my favorite inspectors, Patrick, always puts my clients at ease by saying, 'There isn't anything that can't be fixed!' That always seems to calm the buyers, even with the worst of reports!
