From inflatable bouncy houses and a rock wall, to patriotic music from the Lake Norman orchestra and community choir, you're sure to enjoy this Mooresville event!  The Lowe's YMCA Summer Celebration will also feature a giant color “war;” everyone will be given either red, white or blue glowsticks.  Food vendors will be on site so no grills are allowed. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the fireworks beginning at dark.

The Charlotte Symphony will perform their popular (FREE!) “Celebrate America” program at SouthPark mall’s Symphony Park.   Sadly, this is the finale of the symphony’s summer pops program and will feature favorite patriotic music.  Arrive early with a blanket or lawn chair to stake out your spot and celebrate the Symphony's final summer pops program for 2010--with a BANG!  The prelude begins at 7:15 p.m. and the concert starts at 8 p.m.

Musket and cannon demonstrations, patriotic crafts and sign the Declaration of Independence at Kings Mountain’s free Fourth of July celebration.  Beginning at 6 p.m., the band Continental Divide will perform.  At 9 p.m. enjoy the parad,e led by the Loch Norman Pipe Band.  Mayor Rick Murphrey will then lead a  patriot militia in a 'mock' battle against the British!  Be on the lookout for the victory signal flare--when it goes off, this will mark the beginning of the fireworks show.  Come early with your blanket or lawn chair to secure a good spot.

US Airways Family Fun Festival ‘Red, White and Boom’

Celebrate July 4th with sack races, inflatable slides, food vendors and watermelon-eating contests at the FREE US Airways festival.  Following the fun and festivities, lay out your blanket or watch from the stadium as Charlotte's largest fireworks show takes to the skies at approximately 9:30 p.m.  The show will be synchronized to patriotic music on 96.9 FM. A drawing will be held for one lucky participant to win a $500 US Airways gift card!  All you have to do is bring a non-perishable food item for Second Harvest Food Bank. The event is free to those residing nearby or who have their own parking arrangements but, you can park nearer to the stadium for $5.

How did it all begin?  Enjoy an afternoon of hisotry at the Charlotte Museum of History. The Independence Day celebration is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., but admission is free all day!  Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it while you're there.

Join the Rock Hill American Legion Post 34 Honor Guard for a flag ceremony and salute at noon July 4.  Carowinds will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday’s ticket includes:

  • free barbecue meal
  • the day's admission to the Park
  • Access to watch the Night of Fire display at 10 p.m.
  • TIP:  The best place to watch the fireworks in the park is at the Thrill Zone and the Carolina Cobra midway!

Sing your Fourth of July weekend away with eight bands and musical artists, including Acoustic Syndicate, Simplified and Eric Lindell.
The USNWC Fourth of July Festival is sponsored by Coke Zero.
The musical festivities begin at 1 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
Fireworks will begin at dark on both days.
