Charlotte NC, The Queen City, Receives Another Jewel in Her 'Crown'
Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans, San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, and Austin were among metropolitan cities showing significant growth in relation to newcomers to their metropolitan areas. Two North Carolina cities, Raleigh & Charlotte ranked #1 and #3 consecutively!
According to Forbes Magazine, ten U.S. metropolitan cities are showing vibrant statistical increases in population growth! The manner in which Forbes conducted it's analysis was using the 2008 population estimates in areas with a population over 1 million, according to the US Census Bureau. When compared to the previous year's date, the metropolitan statistical areas that showed the most growth were deemed the most vibrant metro areas who are attracting relocation to those areas.
With unemployment on the rise, credit tighter than it has been in many, many years and consumer confidence low, Charlotte continues to be immune to the recessionary woes, with a 10.5% unemployment rate. Because Charlotte is known for being a financial powerhouse in the US, many forget the variety of industrial and manufacturing jobs that are headquartered here in Charlotte. Our manufacturing hub employs 80,000 workers in 2,093 companies that produce everything from A-Z, offering more job security than other trade, industrial or manufacturing jobs in other major cities.
We are very fortunate to live in such a 'sound' and healthy city!

Debe - Nice post... Curious, what is the unemployment rate down there?
Hi Ryan! We're at 10.5%! The Charlotte Metro area is HUGE and encompasses a vast area that really does not reflect a true picture of the core of Charlotte. But, hey, we're still working to keep eveyone employed as best we can!!
Debe, I have a client who is moving to Raleigh--she has been visiting for years and has had it with the prices here and loves the area. I asked if she had a realtor and she did :( and I'm going to miss her but wishing her well!
Debe, Congratulations to Charlotte on a new jewel. Nice post ma'am.
I see that you all made the same list we did! That is such good news these days when things are still slow elsewhere.
BTW, when I visit your blog, there is an Appleby's ad that starts playing and after that a news clip about foreclosure. It must be emanating from one of your previous posts!
Carole: That's a shame--Charlotte is such a gorgeous city and the opportunities here are amazing! Thanks for thinking of me though!
Don: Thanks! That crown is getting pretty heavy if you ask me!!
Russell: Hi! Yes we are very fortunate--I don't know if it was good foresight or just luck that we wound up in such wonderful cities but, whatever the 'cause,' I'm glad we're where we are right now, that's for sure! As for the Appleby's ad--the post about the buyer who used the listing agent and was then 'evicted' from the unit that he 'thought' he bought--that seems to be causing the trouble. I think I may just go remove the video and just provide the link so that ad will stop. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!
Congrats Debe! It is always good to know you are on the top of the right list! :)
Thanks Jim! Funny but, I was writing on your post, got a phone call and just finished it up to receive the alert that you were writing on MINE! Great minds, huh--but, then we've always known we think alike! Yes, Charlotte does continue to proudly be atop the 'good' lists and I'm lovin' it!
Hi Debe, Right place right time. I always thought of Charlotte being a sisiter city to Atlanta, many similarities. But, that name Raleigh, keeps popping up, Hmmm.
Hey Frank! Charlotte is your sister-city! Hey, I did another Raleigh referral and may have a suggestion for you. Talk to you soon!
~I have never had the opportunity to come to your city I will make it there someday!
