Charlotte NC Ranks as One of America's Most Literate Cities 2009

Central Conneticut State University recently conducted a national survey, ranking the nation's 75 most literate major cities. Charlotte NC ranks #27 following another NC city, Raleigh at #19 and just ahead of Greensboro, at #36.
Cities with 250,000+ residents were ranked based upon several indicators including education level, use of Internet, newspaper circulation, educational attainment, number of booksellers, library services and local periodical publications.

Cultural offerings and reading resources were used to compare literacy with other quality-of-life factors, noting that cities ranking high for literacy also leaned toward "great singles scenes."
Seattle topped the list of "America's Most Literate Cities 2009," followed by Washingon, D.C., Minneapolis, Pittsburgh and Atlanta.

Thank goodness the Internet counts! I'v actually GOT to read something that is NOT related to real estate! Everything I pick up is always a book about real estate and how to work on my business!
Always knew Charlotte was a smart city....now the numbers prove it!
And a great place to live!
Interesting! Well I'm not surprised that Seattle comes out on top! :-)
Debe,
It is an interesting stuff. Who would even think about measuring it? I still do not understand how they can measure it? before you could use libraries' statistics, but now with the Internet dominating the dissemination of information, how can anyone come up with anything reliable?
