Charlotte Oktoberfest 2010 - The Volunteer's DREAM Opportunity - Saturday 9/25/2010!
Charlotte's Meck-South Rotary Club is participating in one of our dozen planned volunteer opportunities tomorrow. Charlotte Oktoberfest 2010 will be held at The Metrolina Tradeshow Expo, located at 7100 Statesville Road. The festival will be held on the outdoor grass fields and the tents are pitched for an amazing day at the Expo!
Charlotte Oktoberfest will be featuring some of the finest breweries in the world, including a large number from right here in the Southeastern US. Due to the popularity of the extra sampling hour that comes with the premium ticket, a limited quantity of three different tickets for admission were sold this year.
GENERAL @ $35 allows entrance to the festival at 2 PM. **SOLD OUT**
PREMIUM @ $50 allows entrance to the festival at 1 PM. **SOLD OUT**
Designated Driver tickets are $20. **SOLD OUT**
Charlotte Oktoberfest has now SOLD OUT in advance for the past 4 years. Arrangements were made for transportation from the event and we were told last night at our volunteer meeting that 4 taxi companies have dedicated all of their staff to this event! Over 5,000 people are expected to attend between the hours of 1:00 and 7:00 p.m. This will be my first year volunteering for this event and several of the volunteers who have done this for several years were quick to inform me that this is the 'Volunteer's Dream Opportunity!' One even said, "This will be the most fun you've had ALL year!"
The Charlotte Oktoberfest provides a great opportunity to make an impact on the community and so chose to donate the majority of festival proceeds to the following charities this year:
The Carolina BrewMasters have donated over $165,000 to local charities during the past 11 years of hosting the Charlotte Oktoberfest. During our meeting last evening, we heard speakers from each of the benefiting charities who proudly acknowledged the appreciation for the proceeds and shared with us the ways in which the funds will be used. Charlotte's Meck-South Rotary Club is proud to participate in this event as the beneficiaries of our work will go to North Carolina children and families of those affected by kidney disease and autism.
The jury is still out as to the 'fun' we'll have but, with tickets being sold out for tomorrow's event, it's incredibly rewarding to know that our day will be well-spent for those in need in our community--that will be the rewarding part of the day!

Hi Debe... this sounds like an event where you can give and get back all at the same time! Have fun volunteering!
Debe, have fun today! Sounds like a great event and hopefully the weather will be good too!
Love all the Fall festivities. This year my festivals will be Florida-bred!
This looks like a lot of fun, Debe. Will you be going? Our community is having its annual fall craft fair today, but I have to miss it today because the Maryland game is at noon. There's always so much to do at this time of year!
Debe Your club has obviouly decided on an amazingly successful fundraiser - congratulations
Good morning Debe,
This looks to be an awesome event and of course you presented it in our classy well written "Debe" fashion! Thanks for setting such a great example for all of us!
That sounds like a blast! Volunteer or not, I just want to be there! If you're going, Debe, have enough fun for all of us :)

Hi Everyone! I just got in and have a gazillion emails to respond to after spending the day working this event and will get back to you--hopefully with a new post! WHAT A DAY! It was an amazing event--absolutely packed but, well-run and without incident. I am totally impressed at what this group pulled together and the beneficiaries have got to be pleased with the outcome. We're anxious to hear what the final amounts to be donated are but, I'll let you know when we hear.
A GREAT day and I'm absolutely refreshingly exhausted! (If that makes any sense whatsoever!)
Debe: What an amazing event, that your Rotary Club volunteered to help. There is absolutely nothing better for a fundraiser than the words "SOLD OUT" and the beneficiaries are able to help so many with volunteers like you!
I hope you will be attending the KC ReBar!
