Search Charlotte Neighborhoods - SOUTH END
Charlotte NC Historic South End - Located just 1.5 miles from Uptown Charlotte, bordering the historic Dilworth community, South End had its beginning in the 1850s when the first railroad line came through Charlotte. The rail connected the Queen City to Columbia and Charleston, SC. Over the years, a thriving manufacturing community sprang up along the tracks, centered on the then burgeoning, formerly thriving Charlotte textile industry.
South End experienced a revival in the 1990's as restaurants, shops, architectural and design-related industries discovered the uniqueness, the beauty and the versatility of the old mills and expansive warehouses. Many of these warehouses have now been converted into cool, modern upscale condominiums. The addition of Charlotte's light rail system has, in recent years, sprouted new development along the tracks as well, providing easy access to nearby Center City Charlotte. South End has become an increasingly popular spot for shops, restaurants and urban living and is home to beautiful new condos with some of the best views of the Uptown area, in the city.

Hello Debe and VB seems to like this area and thanks for the info!
;)
Just wanted to pop by and say Hi - I love your market and community reports deb!
What a beautiful skyline in your center photo, Debe! There are a number of old mill towns in Massachusetts that have also converted warehouses and mills to condos, offices, or artists' studios. I love the architectural details you can see in some of these buildings. It adds great flavor to the town to preserve this history.
Debe - What a beautiful set of photos of Charlotte! I have never been there, but from what you show of it, I need to go!! Thanks!
Warehouse upgrades is something that appeals to relocation buyers who are wanting urbanized living. Hope you're doing well Debe...
South End has certainly come along way since I lived in Charlotte. Glad it is doing so well it looks like they are on the right track.
I would love to visit one day. The South End sounds like a great place to see. NC sounds like a god place to settle.
