Charlotte Luxury Homes | Just What Defines Luxury?
Just what defines luxury in a Charlotte home? Most of us would agree that a luxury home is one which is inviting, comfortable, sophisticated, elegant and stylish--simply luxurious. Size is not the only factor which goes into the luxury home equation; rather it is more about the way the home feels and how enjoyable it is for an individual to live in that space. Location and appointments are certainly indicators when discussing luxury homes...from the first impression to the interior, one's thoughts and perception of luxury is highly individual.
The first impression: The outside appearance of a luxury home may include a circular drive, high-end landscaping, water features including fountains, roaming patios and unique or traditional exterior composision. Brick has always been a staple in luxury homes but, stone and stucco are gaining in popularity for their unique, stylish look. The patio or garden areas give luxury homes a more relaxing feel, providing great entertaining space and an overall pleasant place to live.
The interior: Custom designed floor plans differentiate a home which is more valuable, as well as more luxurious. Custom designed layouts and unique architectural touches are quite common in luxury homes and architectural features have a profound effect on the value of any luxury home which includes them.
Kitchens are the most prevalent interior room which are featured in luxury homes. Chef's kitchens with dual dishwashers, furniture-grade cabinetry, double sinks, double ovens, 6-burner + grill cooktops with massive ornate hoods and architectural ceilings, imported tile flooring and backsplash, commercial grade refrigerators and high-end granite on countertops and islands. Built-in cabinets feature electrical outleted baking/cooking/prep centers to store large appliances and keep counter space open for serving and basic prep. Stow-away garbage and recycle centers are a must and the pantry is likely to be generously sized with custom cabinets and shelving, surely to be the envy of any homeowner!
Spacious bedrooms in luxury homes generally feature architectural touches such as princess balconies, lounging balconies and most are ensuite with exceptional bathroom space, making these luxury homes highly desirable to buyers. Oversized and inviting offices, studies and formals, which include unique touches, give luxury homes a personality which is all its own. Features such as coffered ceilings, heavy millwork, massive fireplaces and other unique designer touches are preferred in Charlotte luxury homes.
Media rooms are also gaining popularity in luxury homes, especially those built in recent years. Many homeowners prefer to have one room in which to watch movies and television or listening to music. With the high-end multimedia systems and other valuables in place in luxury homes, sophisticated security systems are typically in place.
When it comes right down to it, luxury is found in most every price range and is highly individual. The definition of luxury can be as different as those who are asked to define it!

Very nice kitchen Debe. I know Charlotte knows luxury. Charlotte has every kind of luxury there is from old classic, to ultra sleek and modern.
Debe -- this is a great question to pose to your Charlotte area luxury home buyers as the answer can vary greatly. Curb appeal. location, gourmet kitchens, home theaters and so many other responses can bring forth that WOW factor that defines luxury.
Hi Debe,
Like the photos. My favorite quote is that The definition of luxury can be as different as those who are asked to define it!Very true.
We live in a nice home, but it is just home to us.
I'm sure that feeling is shared even as the price range escalates strongly
Phil
Debe, that is a really interesting question. I think I will post it on + and see what happens, you really have me thinking...
Debe - "Luxery", like the word "home" or the term "good deal" means different things to different people. So often its a matter of perspective. I you come from a small and cramped home luxery is space. If you have no air conditioning throughout your home then a home with central air is luxery. If you live in an partment without alundry facilities in your unit then a washer and dryer is luxery. Differnet strokes for different folks.
Luxury...never thought about it much, I guess. Growing up it was always the big house with the pool!
