Wordless Wednesday - Service Cat?

Wordless Wednesday - Service Cat?

We all hear the stories and often complain about service animals - especially when it comes to rental properties and tenants. During the last week since I returned home from leaving my husband under the care of a specialized medical team (for two months), I began video conferencing with Ray from home. Each time we chat, one or all 3 of our fur babies is/are in the room with me and I always put my laptop on their level or put them in my lap, so Ray can see them on his screen in Denver.

Charlotte Zooming

Now, when I turn on the video conferencing, Charlotte runs into the room as fast as she can, when she hears Ray's voice! No matter where she is in the house at the time the call begins, she's in front of my laptop within seconds. It's got to be the most precious thing I think I've ever seen - those two talking to each other is absoutely adorable. I can't get enough of the cuteness!

I'm debating on whether to have her declared a service animal so she can go stay by his side and help him recover faster. 😊  For now, I'm doing what I can to be sure his Charlotte puts a smile on his face several times a day!

Happy Wednesday!

Hi Debe Maxwell, CRS, how awesome for Charlotte to recognize Ray's voice and bring a smile to his face. Our pets bring so much joy to our lives.

Posted by Beth Atalay, Cam Realty of Clermont FL (Cam Realty and Property Management) 4 months ago

Morning Debe.

Charlotte just wants to hear Ray's voice, she is a part of the family.  I do wonder what is going on inside of her head, has she told you?

Posted by James Dray, Exceptional Agents, Outstanding Results (Fathom Realty) 4 months ago

Good morning, Debe Maxwell, CRS my thoughts and prayers are with Ray and you for success with Ray's treatment.... and your cat is a wonderful comfort for Ray and, obviously, for you.

Posted by Barbara Todaro, Marketing Agent for The Todaro Team (RE/MAX Executive Realty ) 4 months ago

Hi Debe Maxwell, CRS - This just shows how important our fur babies are in our lives. It is wonderful that Charlotte is there for Ray.  I hope Ray's treatment is successful and he can see Charlotte soon in person.

Good morning Debe. If it helps Ray recover, go for it! Strange how some things work but not necessarily explained. Enjoy your day!

Aww, they miss Ray too, they love him so much!  It's good to know that he is in good hands!

Love that picture and I know your fur babies want Ray home,  it will happen the count down days are getting there.

They truly do, Beth Atalay! This morning, we were video-conferencing the doctor's visit and one of the nurses with him said, "Oh, what a gorgeous cat!" as Charlotte heard Ray's voice and came running! It put a big smile on Ray's face...and, of course, made me smile too!

LOL James Dray - wouldn't that be nice? I would so love to know what they are thinking (her and the dogs too)!

Thank you so much, Barbara Todaro! Yes, she and the boys (dogs) bring him (and me) so much joy. We love our fur babies, for sure!

It really has helped him so far - she and the dogs all seem to be able to put a bigger smile on his face than I can! LOL

Happy Thursday, Sheri Sperry - MCNE®!

Would love to take her to Denver but, at her age, I'm afraid the flight would not be good for her. For now, this is going to have to work, Wayne Martin

They do miss him so much - not as much as me though, Brian England!! I wish he was here in Charlotte...so bad!

Debe the new technology is fantastic.  We FaceTime with my granddaughter each week on our 55" wide screen TV.

The countdown is ON, Will Hamm! Thankfully we have ZOOM video conferencing - if not, he would be going a little crazy!

I love that, George Souto! Ray has a Google phone so we can't FaceTime but, I've threatened to get a new iPhone for him to do FaceTime with friends and other family members. I think that would be so nice for him. Most don't want to download the ZOOM app to video conference when they have FaceTime at their fingertips.

That is so wonderful that you can do that for Ray and that Charlotte is such a big help.  Saying prayers that he will recover and be home soon.

Oh this is the sweetest post Debe Maxwell, CRS !! I love when our fur babies love love love us, even when hearing the sounds of our voices. I am certain it brightens Ray's day up A LOT.  We use FT alot of with family members etc and especially when Gary is traveling.  Ray would love an Iphone and have the ability to talk with everyone at will via FT.

She really does put a smile on his face, Sharon Lee - it's more healing than any medicine, in my opinion too! And, thank you - we so appreciate your prayers.

It absolutely has so much to do with healing, you're so right, Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886!

YES, I'm going to figure out how to get one of my old iPhones connected for him, if only temporary until he gets home. I have a crazy friend who phoned him the other day and reached out to me afterwards...she said she was going to take her phone with her on FT with Ray during her day so he could live her crazy life (with 3 teenagers) with her! She would totally keep him in stitches so, before I head back in about 10 days, I'm going to get that iPhone activated if I can.

Thank you for the BananaTude feature too, Anna! ❤️ 💕 ♥️

Debe- this is why they're using dogs and cats and other animals in a lot of rehab facilities. You can video chat with Ray via the Facebook Messenger app.

Hi Debe - with this post as well as your Facebook updates, it seems to me, that you are building a strong case as you attempt to have "service cat" status awarded to Charlotte.  Continued best wishes to Ray as he heads to a full recovery.

That is so adorable. Poor Ray. He has been through so much. Hope this does the trick.

First of all, I sure hope this latest treatment helps Ray. I'm sorry to hear he is still dealing with this stuff. As for the service cat, YES. That's an adorable photo, Debe.  Bet you and Charlotte are missing having Ray at home. Sending prayers.

Debe Maxwell, CRS - You'll never know if Charlotte qualifies for a Service Animal unless you try.

Today is the first time I'm hearing about Ray's medical necessity/procedure in CO. I had no idea. I pray he is healing and the worst is over for him to come back home stronger and better than ever. Two months is two seconds too long. If I had known, and if you would have asked, I would have flown over to do the minutia around the office, cleaning litter boxes, and doing whatever else you needed in this time of need without asking for anything in return.  you need me, I will do my best to be right there.

As far as Service Pets go, I am a firm believer that animals have something special, that sixth sense, perhaps angelic nurse wings that knows instinctively what to do when a loved one needs just a little bit more than human TLC. The first time I encountered that was a Eureka moment. I always knew my dog was very intuned to my needs and the needs of each member of my family. It wasn't until my spouse was in the hospital that some angel made me do it. I was in between home, hospice, and the other hospital when I had to turn around to let the dog out and feed him. I turned around, he did his thing, I scooped him up and put him in the car. When I got to the hospital, I had to hide him. Thankfully, it was a brutal winter night, blizzard-like conditions, freezing cold, and I wore my long winter coat. So, upon arrival at the hospital, I picked up my Cockerspaniel and put him under my coat. It was after hours and by then, the hospital staff knew me by face. When I walked into the room, I closed the door behind me and my dog jumped down and ran to the bed. He jumped in one single attempt up on top the bed and got under the covers. That dog, our little angel knew exactly what to do. The most unusual thing that occurred was when the nurse came in and turned on the light and saw my dog. She smiled. She said, what I have to do can wait. And she left the room. My dog's head was up and his eyes followed her until she closed the door, then he went back to comforting my man.

Sorry for the long story. If it helped, I'm glad. I really do hope you'll consider applying for the Service Pet and will be approved. And of course, I wish you and Ray all the best.

Yes, I have taken about 100 of them, Endre - it is just so adorable and I simply can't get enough of those two! If she weren't almost 17, I would definitely apply for 'service' status because she truly helps him when I'm home and Zooming with him. It's the sweetest thing you've ever seen - makes my heart melt!

Barney & Duke - well, they could care less! LOL They are in their own little world - they hear, they look, they take off to do their thing. So funny but, both of us thought it would be the other way around. Barney is very protective of Ray and we thought we would have to put Ray in front of him to cheer BARNEY up!

He's physically better and continuing to do better daily - it's just mental torture being stuck in the bed 24/7. I would go nutso...for sure, Endre Barath, Jr.!

Things are going as well as can be expected, Roy Kelley! It's just a tough, tough challenge having to stay flat on your back 24/7 for 2 months. I don't think I could do it!

Well, I do have an extra one that I was going to connect until I read Kathy Streib's comment! I may give that a whirl now, before I head back out to Denver, Ron and Alexandra Seigel

Oh my gosh! We're going to try that tomorrow, Kathy Streib! Thank you so much for the suggestion - I've never done that but, both of us are pretty tech savvy so, we'll let you know how it goes. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! 🙏

Posted by Debe Maxwell, CRS, Charlotte Homes for Sale - Charlotte Neighborhoods (www.iCharlotteHomes.com | The Maxwell House Group | RE/MAX Executive | (704) 491-3310) 4 months ago

Well, I was really joking about the 'service' status as she is almost 17 and I would never subject her to flying - I'm afraid she wouldn't make it. Heck, we can't ever board her - we have to have house sitters whenever we leave town.

She gets SO sick when we board her - and, of course, the boys have benefitted from us always having house sitters too - they don't have to stay away from home either! Yeah, those puppies don't know how good they have it, thanks to Charlotte! LOL

Isn't she such a sweetie, Jane Peters?!!

Yes, Ray has been through hell and back for the last 8 years. I am so thankful he has such fight in him though. I really do believe this is going to be the end-all, be-all, Jane! 8 LOOOOONG years.

Thank you, Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD! Yes, the boys miss him too - they're just not responsive to video like Charlotte is! We all can't wait for him to get home - it's definitely quiet around here, that's for sure!

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP! Well, not many folks knew about the trip - in fact, I posted something on FB and that is how Will Hamm found out. He's been a dear and has been visiting Ray since he's been there. It's nice to 'know' someone (from AR) when you're away from home and don't really think you know anyone in a strange city!

BOY, that is quite the story, Patricia! I would totally do that too - and I'll bet the nurses thought your fur baby was better than any medicine they had for him. Our fur babies make such a difference in our mental state. I remember when I lost my last poochie - about 12 years ago, I guess. I came home and absoultely could not live in that house without a dog! It was the craziest thing - my heart was filled with love to give to one and I couldn't get to the shelter fast enough! Ray thought I was crazy but, when I got home with Barney, a couple of weeks later, he fell right in love too!

He's amazing, Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - he even checks in with me every single day to see how Ray is doing! I can't say enough wonderful things about him.

Hey Debe,
What a wonderful experience for Charlotte and Ray!  I love it!  This may be the longest 60 days of both your lives but sounds like it will be well worth it.  Will you be going out to Colorado again before he returns home?

Debe Maxwell, CRS  that beats Cleo waiting for the password any day of the week. Ray looks great and you should get that picture printed and framed. You are both an inspiration God Bless
