Speechless Sunday - Time Change Even Stresses Our Fur Babies

Speechless Sunday - Time Change Even Stresses Our Fur Babies

I shared earlier, the stress of having to turn back our clocks in the fall (and forward in the spring) and of course, those, among others, are all human issues! With the early evening darkness, the fur babies experience a bit of confusion as well.

Time Change Woes

When I didn't grab Duke's bowl to feed him, he popped in his bed...not sure if it was time for bed or dinner or neither! Barney had his moments too and Charlotte slept all day. Ahh, the woes of time change!

Enjoy your week ahead...

Debe I have been battling this cause since I was a teenager.... every year I  am hoping that the politicians will come to their senses and eliminate this worthless exercise..... this  one is not as traumatic for me as the one in the Spring it takes me days to adjust and indeed our animal farm has the same complaints as yours not just for the food but for the walking and getting up... they have not been told about this worthless exercise of messing with their schedules....

Posted by Endre Barath, Jr., Realtor - Los Angeles Home Sales 310.486.1002 (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices) 9 days ago

Nice thing about being in Arizona they don't participate in this worthless exercise.  But I wish it was eliminated as well.

Morning Debe.

Well I was going to go on a tirade but I see Endre Barath, Jr. beat me to it.

Posted by James Dray, Exceptional Agents, Outstanding Results (Fathom Realty) 9 days ago

Good morning, Debe Maxwell, CRS I'm probably one of very few who enjoy the daylight at an early hour.... it's always tough getting up in darkness and beginning the day.... and my eyes close early so that's perfect for me.... 8:00pm and I'm dead to the world.... but lifting weights at and early hour...

Posted by Barbara Todaro, Marketing Agent for The Todaro Team (RE/MAX Executive Realty ) 9 days ago

Good morning Debe. Trying to figure out why we set the clock back an hour and I woke up two hours early? Should be OK by spring when we set the clocks ahead. Or, more agony! Enjoyy your day!

Having just had two weekends running with time changes, one in Europe and one here, the one here seems to have messed me up more with me waking early and wanting to go to bed early as a result.

Good morning Debe. Our pets are smarter than we are. They just aren't having it.

The pets do not care about the changes of the clock when they are hungry.

Posted by Roy Kelley (Realty Group Referrals) 9 days ago

Debe I am not a fan of the time change either.  Even with the extra hour sleep I was still tired all day long.

Posted by George Souto, Your Connecticut Mortgage Expert (George Souto NMLS #65149 FHA, CHFA, VA Mortgages) 8 days ago

My two cats definitely expected me to get up and feed them at their "regular" time.  No sleeping an extra hour for me!

Oh my, I'm totally with you, Endre Barath, Jr. - it IS a worthless exercise! I understand the reason they began doing this but, that's behind us now as there are so many automated systems the farmers are using (in recent DECADES)!

I'm happy that NC's House has passed it - now to work on the Senate. Almost there...we HOPE!

Twice a year, Sharon Lee, I grumble, "Oh, I wish we lived in Arizona!! LOL I know you're glad you and Shadow don't have to deal with this ridiculousness now!

LOL You, Endre Barath, Jr. and I are often passionate about the same issues, James Dray!! Endre's tirade would have been a better post that the actual post! LOL

Posted by Debe Maxwell, CRS, Charlotte Homes for Sale - Charlotte Neighborhoods (www.iCharlotteHomes.com | The Maxwell House Group | RE/MAX Executive | (704) 491-3310) 8 days ago

I knew you went to bed early - well, unless your Pats are playing, Barbara Todaro! I have noticed that this year, they are getting a lot of night-time games and thought about you, possibly using toothpicks to stay awake! LOL

Seriously, when my team plays at night, even if I'm sleepy, the excitement keeps me awake - easily!

LOL Maybe you will be preparing for the next 6 months, Wayne! I am hopeful that the next time change is our last one - the proposal to go to full-time Daylight Saving Time. We can only hope, right, Wayne Martin?!

I don't require much sleep, Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 but, have noticed that the time changes and jet lag really seem to bother me more now than ever before. I also think that my requirement has gone from 4-5 hours to 5-6 hours in the last year. For me, that's a remarkable change - I've been on the 4-5 hour habit since college!

Oh, I shared your comment with Ray - abouot Duke just being 'mad' and he laughed too, Sheila Anderson! You get close to his food bowl within an hour of his dinner time and he's all over you. He's got this internal clock that has seriously been disturbed the last two days! LOL

Posted by Debe Maxwell, CRS, Charlotte Homes for Sale - Charlotte Neighborhoods (www.iCharlotteHomes.com | The Maxwell House Group | RE/MAX Executive | (704) 491-3310) 8 days ago

We think they go by the sky - dark or light - when it's dinner time for them. Duke though, will eat any time of the day or night, if you feed him, Roy Kelley!

Posted by Debe Maxwell, CRS, Charlotte Homes for Sale - Charlotte Neighborhoods (www.iCharlotteHomes.com | The Maxwell House Group | RE/MAX Executive | (704) 491-3310) 8 days ago

It really does mess with our internal clocks, doesn't it, George Souto?! I SO wish they'd do away with it - as Endre says, it's a worthless exercise!

Posted by Debe Maxwell, CRS, Charlotte Homes for Sale - Charlotte Neighborhoods (www.iCharlotteHomes.com | The Maxwell House Group | RE/MAX Executive | (704) 491-3310) 8 days ago

My kitty didn't seem to mind but, she's been eating very little lately - her thyroid is still not regulated so, that is effecting her appetite. So, the boys were doing the whining with the time change and this time, it wasn't Charlotte!

Debe, I stopped writing about this because otherwise I would come across that I am on a Tirade:)) just as James Dray  described it, this way I can just be a closet tirade commenter:))... I should dig up my old posts about this subject and you would agree with me:))Endre

Debe - Your love overflows with passion for all creatures on earth. I love that you think so much of your fur babies and that no matter how busy you are, you always make time for all God's creatures.

Debe, I also wish they would stop changing the time or as Endre Barath, Jr. puts it... "a worthless exercise".

Hi Debe, I agree with you-- the time change really does mess with the flow of our schedule.

Oh, our fur babies are so much a part of our lives, Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I can' t imagine not having a fur baby here to worry about!

Right now, I'm terribly worried about my 17-year old kitty - she's not doing very well. 😢

Me too, Rebecca Gaujot, Realtor® - I love that phrase - 'worthless exercise.' It sums this exercise up quite well!

I think we've finally gotten Duke back on the right time but, boy, I hate taking them out in the dark in the morning now! LOL

I'm good with keeping Daylight Saving Time year-round, Mike Bjork

Hi Krystin Mitchell, CPA CFE! It really does! I'd love to do away with this useless practice, for sure!

Debe - It is so hard to see our pets suffering. Yet, isn't it amazing that even when they are not well, that unconditional love keeps flowing back to the hands that feed and care for them. Are you referring to Charlotte? Your heart must be aching. I really do believe they are put on this earth for reasons even humans will never understand. Thank God for loving pet owners and Veterinarians too.

Yes, my baby girl is not doing well. She and Ray have this cute little 'bond' and the week before I brought him home from the hospital, I had to take her to the vet a couple of times. I told them they had to do whatever it took to keep her alive until the next week. They did and we were JUST commenting about how well she was doing on Sunday.

Now, she hasn't eaten this week and her thyroid levels just won't stabalize. It's impacting her kidney function and she's losing weight by the day.

And, YES, thank God for vets - OMG, hers loves Charlotte like she's his own. We are so lucky to have found him...some 25 years ago!

Thank you for your thoughtful comment - I so appreciate it. 😘
