Two Digits Can Cost You BIG Time!

Two Digits Can Cost You BIG Time!

Yes, everyone has read this over the past few days but, if I catch one person that this helps, I'm happy to do so! The CBS report below talks about checks but, this is about everything on which we use dates.

Our documents, while published in ZipForms for us to use locally are from the NC & SC Bar Associations. The dates, when we use them in DocuSign will be 4-digit years but, if we print one to complete and sign in-person with a client, must also use 4-digits. This is to protect us AND our clients.

Saving time to write 2 fewer digits is simpy not worth it! 2020 it is for me!

True! I have been in the habit of doing that but, oftentimes when I write the date, I use the military method (05JAN20) but, I will definitely be using 2020 across the board!

Technology can only do so much. It takes a little awareness sometimes to make of that analogy work for us. :)

Debe Maxwell, CRS - You got me! I didn't hear about it but it makes sense! I do make a habit of writing four digits but will be very careful, especially when it comes to checks, business and/or signing documents at doctor offices. I just filled out an annual HIPPA form and the space was small so I used 2. I'll be sure to pay attention.

Thank you!!!

I agree, Laura Cerrano and sadly, sometimes it's the very technology that we use that the scammers can use against us. Being prudent is so easy to do and can save so much hassle in the end!

Hi George Souto! I think I first saw it at our Association and 'assumed' that military format would be 'exempt' from this (12JAN20) but, according to government recommendations, it's not.  So, 'longhand' it will be!!

YAY! My post wasn't for naught then, Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP! As you are well aware, a little prudence can save you money and time in the long run! I only know that from past mistakes!

Happy Sunday!
