Speechless Sundays - What a Difference a Little Color Makes

Speechless Sundays - What a Difference a Little Color Makes

They say a black door sells homes faster than doors of any other color. While we're certainly not planning to sell anytime soon, it seemed like a good idea for our new space - so, we tried it.

According to studies, homes with black or charcoal gray front doors sell for $6,271 more than expected. I think if you’re contemplating selling and need a fresh coat of paint on your front door, it would definitely be worth the cost of the paint to change your curb appeal.

I agree with you Debe, the black paint really draws the eye to the door.

Without checking the improvement spreadsheet, I THINK it was $1,100, Endre Barath, Jr. We didn't buy the sidelites or the transom glass - only the door. It is mahogany but, it was the slab only - it had to be mortissed. BUT, we are not selling for a very long time - if ever! I'm thinking our boys will be selling this one! LOL

Morning Debe.

It sure did make a difference, the only problem I can see is, keeping it clean

Debe Maxwell, CRS - With the right brick or siding, black is stunning and draws the eyes into the home without even unlocking the door. Plus, you don't see hand or bug prints like you do on white or cream colored doors.

Hello Debe - a thoughtful decision.  The door makes a nice first impression.  And likely, a lasting one as well.

Interesting fact. I do love the black door in the photo much better than the white one.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning Debe Maxwell, CRS - or even think of replacing the front door.  That one is on my list after a new roof.

The black looks much better!  I did not know that about black doors helping sell a home quicker, I always thought there was something about a red door though.

I absolutely have to agree that the black door looks fabulous! My daughter recently did the same thing with her home and the black just looks elegant.

Thank you all for your comments! I love my new door and am so glad we made that decision.

Brian England, the red door signifies that you've paid off your mortgage...can't wait for that!!
